PublikacjaTire/road noise in most driving conditions dominates other sources of traffic noise. One of the most efficient ways of reducing tire/road noise is to use the so-called “low noise pavement”. According to numerous studies, at present, poroelastic road pavement that is composed of rubber and mineral aggregate and polyurethane or bituminous binder gives the best noise reduction up to 12 dB. Unfortunately, there are many problems with...

Parallel tabu search for graph coloring problem
PublikacjaTabu search is a simple, yet powerful meta-heuristic based on local search that has been often used to solve combinatorial optimization problems like the graph coloring problem. This paper presents current taxonomy of patallel tabu search algorithms and compares three parallelization techniques applied to Tabucol, a sequential TS algorithm for graph coloring. The experimental results are based on graphs available from the DIMACS...

Gender approach to multi-objective optimization of detection systems by pre-selection of criteria
PublikacjaA novel idea of performing evolutionary computations for solving highly-dimensional multi-objective optimization (MOO) problems is proposed. The information about individual genders is applied. This information is drawn out of the fitness of individuals and applied during the parental crossover in the evolutionary multi-objective optimization (EMO) processes. The paper introduces the principles of the genetic-gender approach (GGA)...

Emotions Embodied in the SVC of an Autonomous Driver System
PublikacjaA concept of embodied intelligence (EI) is considered. None of such implementations can be fully identified with artificial intelligence. Projects that dare to approach AI and EI should be based on both the AI concepts (symbolic and sub-symbolic), in solving real problems of perception and decision-making. Therefore, the EI, in this paper, is understood as a methodology that uses all available resources and algorithms from the...

O modelowaniu numerycznym dźwigarów zespolonych
PublikacjaThe paper is a general review of theoretical problems and corresponding numerical procedures actually available in commercial engineering software. Several possibilities of numerical simulation for composite girders are presented. Effectivity of meshing is showed on the simple example. Finally several examples of structural numeric models for real bridges are included. In the author's opinion, presented available procedures for...

FFT spectrum based matching algorithm for activedynamic thermography
PublikacjaIn Active Dynamic thermography (ADT) sequences of consecutive temperature distributions are analyzed. In biomedical applications of ADT, the problems of a patient's movements in front of a thermal camera should be eliminated before data analysis. Complete mechanical stabilization of the patients is impossible due to natural voluntary and involuntary moves caused by pulse breathing, etc. This paper presents a simple and efficient...

First-order differential equations with nonlocal boundary conditions
PublikacjaWe study a first-order boundary value problem subject to some boundary conditions given by Riemann-Stieltjes integrals. Using a monotone iterative method, we formulate sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of extremal or quasi-solutions in the corresponding region bounded by upper and lower solutions of our problems. The case when a unique solution exists is also investigated. Some examples are given to illustrate...

Can we really solve an arch stability problem?
PublikacjaWe bring attention to the problem of solving nonlinear boundary-value problems for elastic structures such as arches and shells. Here we discuss a classical problem of a shear-deformable arch postbuckling. Considering a postbuckling behaviour of a circular arch we discuss the possibility to find numerically a solution for highly nonlinear regimes. The main attention is paid to the problem of determination of all solutions. The...

Prediction of Weld Deformations by Numerical Methods - Review
PublikacjaThe welding process is the basic technique of joining in the shipbuilding industry. This method generates welding distortions that cause a lot of problems during the manufacturing process due to both the time and cost of straightening as well as their influence on later stages of production. Proper preparation of welding processes plays a growing role in the shipbuilding industry and the development of calculating tools is being...

Smart Cities Concept: Smart Mobility Indicator
PublikacjaThis work attempts to analyze problems resulting from the lack of possibility to assess the effectiveness of the implementation of “Smart Mobility” solutions, which represent one of the cornerstones of Smart Cities, from the point of view of city hall offices. The work presents existing Smart Mobility evaluation solutions, discusses their drawbacks, and then proposes a new indicator. The final part of the work presents assumptions...

On Surface Kinetic Constitutive Relations
PublikacjaIn the framework of the strain gradient surface elasticity we discuss a consistent form of surface kinetic energy. This kinetic constitutive equation completes the statement of initial–boundary value problems. The proposed surface kinetic energy density is the most general function consistent with the constitutive relations in bulk. As the surface strain energy depends on the surface deformation gradient and its gradient, the kinetic...

Noise in electrical double-layer capacitors (EDLCs)
PublikacjaWe present methods and problems of noise measurements in electrical double-layer capacitors (EDLC). Detailed noise equivalent electronic circuit is considered, and two possible ways of observations of random processes generated in the EDLCs structures are studied. We conclude that noise is a useful tool for characterization of the EDLC structures and their state-of-health, as in other materials and electronic devices. Eventual,...

Wielkogabarytowe hydrodynamiczne łożyska wzdłużne
PublikacjaW monografii przedstawiono problemy konstrukcyjne i badawcze hydrodynamicznych łożysk wzdłużnych o dużych średnicach. Łożyska takie stanowią istotne i niezwykle odpowiedzialne podzespoły hydrogeneratorów elektrowni wodnych. Z uwagi na rozmiary (średnice przekraczają niekiedy 5 metrów) i złożoność zjawisk łożyska te wymagają specjalnej postaci konstrukcyjnej, a ich dokładna analiza obliczeniowa przysparza wiele problemów. Dodatkowo...

The Importance of Contextual Topology in the Process of Harmonization of the Spatial Databases on Example BDOT500
PublikacjaIn this work, we present two detailed problems of topological errors in spatial database. Both issues are inconsistencies in the database, i.e. interior topological relationships layers of buildings and the relationship between the buildings layer and the layer of plots. That inconsistency is related to the residual polygons that arise as a result of overlapping objects, or gaps between objects. The occurrence of this type of error...
