Herein we support the realization of using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with the assistance of rigid porphyrin structure (H2TMP) aimed at drug loading, drug release, relative cell viability, and targeted in vitro drug delivery. There are several MOFs, i.e., UiO-66-NH2 (125 ± 12.5 nm), UiO-66-NH2 @H2TMP (160 ± 14 nm), UiO-66-NH2 @H2TMP@DOX, and...

Proportional-Derivative and Model-based Controllers used for a Serial Type Manipulator in case of a Variable Mass Payload
PublikacjaIn the paper, numerical analysis of dynamics of a variable mass system is considered. Its reference example is a serial-like manipulator composed of revolute joints and rigid bodies. Payload of its gripper is considered as its variable mass element (mass and inertia irregularly between subsequent payloads). For the rest of the system, inertia parameters are considered as known (precisely identified during the assembling process)....

Analysis of Reconstituted Tripartite Complex Supports Avidity-based Recruitment of Hsp70 by Substrate Bound J-domain Protein
PublikacjaHsp70 are ubiquitous, versatile molecular chaperones that cyclically interact with substrate protein(s). The initial step requires synergistic interaction of a substrate and a J-domain protein (JDP) cochaperone, via its J-domain, with Hsp70 to stimulate hydrolysis of its bound ATP. This hydrolysis drives conformational changes in Hsp70 that stabilize substrate binding. However, because of the transient nature of substrate and JDP...

Robust identification of quadrocopter model for control purposes
PublikacjaThe paper addresses a problem of quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle (so-called X4-flyer or quadrocopter) utility model identification for control design purposes. To that goal the quadrotor model is assumed to be composed of two abstracted subsystems, namely a rigid body (plant) and four motors equipped with blades (actuators). The model of the former is acquired based on a well-established dynamic equations of motion while the...

E-Voting System Evaluation Based on the Council of Europe Recommendations: nVotes
PublikacjaE-voting implantation has been facing important challenges in recent years. Several incidents, together with a lack of evaluation methodologies social and cultural customs hinder a broader application. In this work, the authors aim to contribute to a safer introduction of e-voting tools by applying a practical evaluation framework strongly based on the security requirements issued by the Council of Europe (CoE) in 2017 to nvotes,...

Surgical tool tracking by on-line selection of structural correlation filters
PublikacjaIn visual tracking of surgical instruments, correlation filtering finds the best candidate with maximal correlation peak. However, most trackers only consider capturing target appearance but not target structure. In this paper we propose surgical instrument tracking approach that integrates prior knowledge related to rotation of both shaft and tool tips. To this end, we employ rigid parts mixtures model of an instrument. The rigidly...

Nutrient transport and acquisition by diatom chains in a moving fluid
PublikacjaThe role of fluid motion in delivery of nutrients to phytoplankton cells is a fundamental question in biological and chemical oceanography. In the study of mass transfer to phytoplankton, diatoms are of particular interest. They are non-motile, are often the most abundant components in aggregates and often form chains, so they are the ones expected to benefit most from enhancement of nutrient flux due to dissipating turbulence....

Effective Formula for Impact Damping Ratio for Simulation of Earthquake-induced Structural Pounding
PublikacjaStructural pounding during earthquakes may cause substantial damage to colliding structures. The phenomenon is numerically studied using different models of collisions. The aim of the present paper is to propose an effective formula for the impact damping ratio, as a parameter of the impact force model used to study different problems of structural pounding under seismic excitations. Its accuracy has been verified by four various...

Dyskretno-ciągła metoda modelowania układów dynamicznych
PublikacjaW artykule przedstawiono oryginalną metodę modelowania układów dyskretno-ciągłych. Metoda polega na dyskretyzowaniu układu trójwymiarowego jedynie w dwóch wybranych kierunkach. W trzecim z kierunków układ pozostaje ciągły. Otrzymany w ten sposób model jest modelem dyskretno-ciągłym. Opisany jest za pomocą równań różniczkowych cząstkowych. Ogólne równania różnicowe układu dyskretnego otrzymano, wykorzystując metodę sztywnych elementów...

Study on Strategy in University Laboratory Class Teaching
PublikacjaLaboratory teaching is a critical way to ensure the effective input of techniques in engineering learning. Laboratory teaching not only contributes to improving course quality but also helps enrich comprehensive engineering application ability. However, there are some typical problems in current university laboratory teaching, such as rigid and isolated course design, outdated contents and materials, and not encouraging innovation...

Scaled agile framework. Dealing with software process‐related challenges of a financial group with the action research approach
PublikacjaThis article reports on a domain-specific software development venture at Nordea. We explore organizational constraints, challenges, and corrective actions undertaken when scaling the agile development approach of their Core Banking Platform program. The fit and required customizations of the rather complex and rigid SAFe framework in a policy-heavy financial institution are audited against the organic growth of the program. In...

Complexation of amino acids derivatives in water by calix[4]arene phosphonic acids
PublikacjaSeries of the calix[4]arene phosphonic acids with various substituents at the lower rim was synthesized. Complexing properties of these receptors towards methyl esters of six amino acids strongly depended on the calix[4]arene conformation flexibility. The complex formation processes were monitored using 1H NMR spectroscopy (deuterated phosphate buffer at pD 7.3, 22 oC) and association constant values were evaluated. Inherently...

A DISCRETE-CONTINUOUS METHOD OF MECHANICAL SYSTEM MODELLING
PublikacjaThe paper describes a discrete-continuous method of dynamic system modelling. The presented approach is hybrid in its nature, as it combines the advantages of spatial discretization methods with those of continuous system modelling methods. In the proposed method, a three-dimensional system is discretised in two directions only, with the third direction remaining continuous. The thus obtained discrete-continuous model is described...

Linear Pantographic Sheets: Existence and Uniqueness of Weak Solutions
Publikacjawe address the well-posedness of the planar linearized equilibrium problem for homogenized pantographic lattices. To do so: (i) we introduce a class of subsets of anisotropic Sobolev’s space as the most suitable energy space E relative to assigned boundary conditions; (ii) we prove that the considered strain energy density is coercive and positive definite in E ; (iii) we prove that the set of placements for which the strain...

PublikacjaThis paper addresses the potential of self-made polyester-urethane filament as a candidate for Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)-based 3D printing (3DP) in medical applications. Since the industry does not provide many ready-made solutions of medical-grade polyurethane filaments, we undertook research aimed at presenting the process of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) filament formation, detailed characteristics, and 3DP of specially...

Experimental study and numerical simulation of the dynamic penetration into dry clay
PublikacjaTests of dry clay were carried out in a uniaxial stress state using the experimental setup which implements the split Hopkinson pressure bar method. Based on the results of these experiments, the compressive strength of clay was determined as an important element of S.S. Grigoryan’s model of the soil medium. In addition, the parameters of this model are determined from the results of experiments using the modified Kolsky method...

The non-local mechanical interaction between points is characterized by force and moment vectors. The balance equations including the linear momentum, the angular momentum and the energy are presented. Peridynamic deformation...
