Systems of Nonlinear Fractional Differential Equations
PublicationUsing the iterative method, this paper investigates the existence of a unique solution to systems of nonlinear fractional differential equations, which involve the right-handed Riemann-Liouville fractional derivatives D(T)(q)x and D(T)(q)y. Systems of linear fractional differential equations are also discussed. Two examples are added to illustrate the results.

The consideration to the dynamic systems parameter identification
PublicationIn this paper, a concept for continuous-time dynamic systems parameter identification using modulating function approach is presented. It refers to linear as well as selected non-linear systems. It shows the possibility of direct application without converting differential equation. In particular cases direct application can decrease the amount of computation in non-linear system identification, which generally requires Fourier...

Verification of a Novel Method of Detecting Faults in Medium-Voltage Systems with Covered Conductors
PublicationThis paper describes the use of new methods of detecting faults in medium-voltage overhead lines built of covered conductors. The methods mainly address such faults as falling of a conductor, contacting a conductor with a tree branch, or falling a tree branch across three phases of a medium-voltage conductor. These faults cannot be detected by current digital relay protection systems. Therefore, a new system that can detect the...

Smart Embedded Systems with Decisional DNA Knowledge Representation
PublicationEmbedded systems have been in use since the 1970s. For most of their history embedded systems were seen simply as small computers designed to accomplish one or a few dedicated functions; and they were usually working under limited resources i.e. limited computing power, limited memories, and limited energy sources. As such, embedded systems have not drawn much attention from researchers, especially from those in the artificial...

Generic invariant measures for iterated systems of interval homeomorphisms
PublicationIt is well known that iterated function systems generated by orientation preserving homeomorphisms of the unit interval with positive Lyapunov exponents at its ends admit a unique invariant measure on (0, 1) provided their action is minimal. With the additional requirement of continuous differentiability of maps on a fixed neighbourhood of {0,1} { 0 , 1 } , we present a metric in the space of such systems which renders it complete....

Towards Robust Identification of Nonstationary Systems
PublicationThe article proposes a fast, two-stage method for the identification of nonstationary systems. The method uses iterative reweighting to robustify the identification process against the outliers in the measurement noise and against the numerical errors that may occur at the first stage of identification. We also propose an adaptive algorithm to optimize the values of the hyperparameters that are crucial for this new method.

They are as follows, respectively: 1, 2, 5, 5 and 20 m, with a confidence level of 95% in twodimensional space. The Global Navigation Satellite System...

Optimization issues in distributed computing systems design
PublicationIn recent years, we observe a growing interest focused on distributed computing systems. Both industry and academia require increasing computational power to process and analyze large amount of data, including significant areas like analysis of medical data, earthquake, or weather forecast. Since distributed computing systems – similar to computer networks – are vulnerable to failures, survivability mechanisms are indispensable...

Software tool for modelling of mechatronic systems with elastic continua
PublicationThe paper presents a systematic computational package for modelling and analysis of complex systems composed of multiple lumped and distributed parameter subsystems. The constructed computer program enables the frequency domain analysis of a class of linear systems and to obtain reduced order model in the form of bond graph. Obtained modal bond graph can be directly exported into 20-Sim package to further processing including nonlinear...

Practical Evaluation of Internet Systems' Security Mechanisms
PublicationA proposed Internet systems security layer with context-oriented security mechanisms reduces the risk associated with possible vulnerabilities. A metric of the system trust level is proposed, and then evaluated according to a university Internet system.

Natural deep eutectic solvent based ultrasound assisted liquid-liquid micro-extraction method for methyl violet dye determination in contaminated river water
PublicationSimple and green natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) based ultrasound assisted liquid-liquid micro-extraction (UA-LLME) method was developed for extraction and determination of methyl violet dye in contaminated river water samples using UV/Vis spectrophotometry. Choline chloride - decanoic acid based natural deep eutectic solvent was used for extraction. Important analytical parameters like pH, deep eutectic solvent volume/phase...

Financial Markets and Bankruptcy Systems: Is there a Relationship?
PublicationPurpose: Filling the cognitive gap in the theory of ex-post transaction costs, i.e., at the stage of enforcing market transactions by examining the relationship between friendliness/severity of the bankruptcy and restructuring law towards debtors, the level of development of financial markets, the effectiveness of the judicial system and the rate of debt recovery. Design/Methodology/Approach: In the research, the following methods...

Affect-awareness framework for intelligent tutoring systems
PublicationThe paper proposes a framework for construction of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS), that take into consideration student emotional states and make affective interventions. The paper provides definitions of `affect-aware systems' and `affective interventions' and describes the concept of the affect-awareness framework. The proposed framework separates emotion recognition from its definition, processing and making decisions on...

The use of LiFePO4 technology in autonomous PV systems
PublicationBattery manufacturing based on the flow of lithium ions is currently the fastest growing and the most promising technology. It is used in many applications - from the smallest electronic devices to the large-scale energy trays. However, in the PV systems lead-acid batteries are still the most commonly used. As they are much cheaper they also come with a number of significant disadvantages. It is anticipated that they will be replaced...

Reliable testbed for indoor positioning systems
PublicationThis paper proposes a test environment for indoor localization system, based on radio wave propagation prosperities. The following sections presents variety of problems from the assessment of the existing localization system to the analysis of inconveniences which occur when comparison of different localization systems is implemented. The problem is associated with different testing environments presented in published papers is...
