Evaluation of position estimation based on accelerometer data
PublikacjaThe paper concerns the problem of integrating data from accelerometers. A suitable model of a MEMS accelerometer is presented which is a part of inertial measurement units (IMU). Such units allow to measure orientation as well as to localize systems. They also appear to be applicable for systems positioning. The main purpose of the paper is to discuss conditions that must be satisfied to calculate the location of the sensor by...

Hybrid P3HT: PCBM/GaN nanowire/Si cascade heterojunction for photovoltaic application
PublikacjaPoly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) are commonly used for the fabrication of organic photovoltaics (OPV). Efficiency limitations of OPVs could be circumvented by incorporation of inorganic nanostructures into organic blends. Again, integration of organic solar cells with well-developed silicon photovoltaic technology is ultimately desirable. In present work, GaN nanowires with diameters...

The CDIO model in architectural education and research by design
PublikacjaArchitectural education has always been related to experimentation: that is, defining concepts, drawing sketches, working on models, then testing and modifying them. This activity mirrors the CDIO learning methods and objectives. Despite this, research studies into the applicability of the CDIO model in architectural curricula are scarce. In the discipline of architecture, hands-on experiences are associated not only with one of...

Integration of electric vehicle into smart grid: a meta heuristic algorithm for energy management between V2G and G2V
PublikacjaRecently, Electric Vehicles (EV) have been providing fast response and substantial progress in the power generation model. Further, EVs are exploited as adaptable Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) and show a promising performance in ancillary service markets to increase the demand of Smart Grid (SG) integration. The expansion of Vehicle-to-Grid concept has created an extra power source when renewable energy sources are not available....

Monument of History in Gdynia - Problems with Protection of the Main Representative Axis of the City
PublikacjaThe spatial idea of the main representative axis was presented in 1938 in the project of the Representative District of Gdynia and partly realised in 1938-1939. Although the whole area was included in the Gdynia's Monument of History, now its spatial integration is on thread by the controversial current development plans

Tackling microplastics pollution in global environment through integration of applied technology, policy instruments, and legislation
PublikacjaMicroplastic pollution is a serious environmental problem that affects both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Small particles with size of less than 5 mm, known as microplastics (MPs), persist in the environment and pose serious threats to various species from micro-organisms to humans. However, terrestrial environment has received less attention than the aquatic environment, despite being a major source of MPs that eventually...

Looking for Social Enterprise Models in Poland: institutional and historical context
PublikacjaThe paper is an attempt at identification of key social enterprise models in Poland. The authors recognize three models: entrepreneurial non-profit organizations, cooperatives as well as social integration clubs and centres. Their social and institutional background is presented together with institutional trajectories of social enterprise development.

A tool for integrating Web Site services over User Interface
PublikacjaCompanies and organizations are building information systems by integrating previously independent applications, together with new developments. This integration process has to deal with existing applications, which can only be used through their specific interfaces, and often cannot be modified. Integration of web applications running remotely and controlled by separate organizations becomes even more complicated, as their user...

Extending Service Selection Algorithms with Interoperability Analysis
PublikacjaApplication development by integration of existing, atomic services reduces development cost and time by extensive reuse of service components. In Service Oriented Architecture, there exist alternative versions of services supplying the same functionality but differing in Quality of Service (QoS) attributes, which enables developers to select services with optimal QoS. Existing algorithms of service selection focus on the formal...

Fourier transforms on Cantor sets: A study in non-Diophantine arithmetic and calculus
PublikacjaFractals equipped with intrinsic arithmetic lead to a natural definition of differentiation, integration, and complex structure. Applying the formalism to the problem of a Fourier transform on fractals we show that the resulting transform has all the required basic properties. As an example we discuss a sawtooth signal on the ternary middle-third Cantor set. The formalism works also for fractals that are not self-similar.
