Risk Management in "Agile" methodologies using the example of Scrum and the IBM Rational Team Concert tool
PublikacjaProject risk is one of the key areas which should be subjected to a thorough analysis in any IT project. Project managers undertake steps to minimize risks, both in terms of organization (matching people to tasks or roles) as well as in terms of technology (using appropriate tools for the management and execution of tasks). Every method of project management defines and describes the processes and techniques related to knowledge...

Convergence of rational multistep methods of of Adams-Padé type
PublikacjaRational generalizations of multistep schemes, where the linear stiff part of a given problem is treated by an A-stable rational approximation, have been proposed by several authors, but a reasonable convergence analysis for stiff problems has not been provided so far. In this paper we directly relate this approach to exponential multistep methods, a subclass of the increasingly popular class of exponential integrators. This natural,...

The Snow Team Problem
PublikacjaWe study several problems of clearing subgraphs by mobile agents in digraphs. The agents can move only along directed walks of a digraph and, depending on the variant, their initial positions may be pre-specified. In general, for a given subset~$\cS$ of vertices of a digraph $D$ and a positive integer $k$, the objective is to determine whether there is a subgraph $H=(\cV_H,\cA_H)$ of $D$ such that (a) $\cS \subseteq \cV_H$, (b)...

However, there is a category of objects of high historical or architectural value in which the sound focus correction is limited or even abandoned. This also applies to indoor or outdoor concert shells, installations for teaching and acoustic presentations, etc. The...

Can Historic Interiors with Large Cubature be Turned Acoustically Correct?
PublikacjaHistoric interiors with large cubature, such as reception, theatrical, and concert halls, need to be renovated periodically if they are to be preserved as cultural heritage for future generations. In such cases it is necessary to maintain appropriate balance between requirements imposed by heritage conservation authorities office which are usually being given a higher priority, applicable safety regulations, and the comfort of...

Model of pressure distribution in vortex flow controls
PublikacjaThe paper is devoted to the vortex valve. Existing devices are described by CFD-methods, or by means of simple empirical relations. A rational method of the considered object design is proposed, on the base of the input and dissipation energy balance., what gives a simple algebraic equation. Conformity between calcul;ated and measured parameters of the vortex valve allows for acceptation of the proposed concept.

Playing the Sprint Retrospective: A Replication Study
PublikacjaThe Sprint Retrospective is a vehicle for continuous process improvement. Even though it is a well established agile practice, running effective retrospective meetings is challenging. There have been a lot of identified problems that commonly occur during these meetings. To address them, Przybyłek & Kotecka [20] successfully revitalized retrospective meetings by adopting collaborative games, which represent a powerful tool in improving...

Hat problem on the cycle C4
PublikacjaThe topic of our paper is the hat problem. In that problem, each of n people is randomly tted with a blue or red hat. Then everybody can try to guess simultanously his own hat color looking at the hat colors of the other people. The team wins if at least one person guesses his hat color correctly and no one guesses his hat color wrong, otherwise the team loses. The aim is to maximize the probability of win. In this version every...

The hat problem on a union of disjoint graphs
PublikacjaThe topic is the hat problem in which each of n players is randomly fitted with a blue or red hat. Then everybody can try to guess simultaneously his own hat color by looking at the hat colors of the other players. The team wins if at least one player guesses his hat color correctly, and no one guesses his hat color wrong; otherwise the team loses. The aim is to maximize the probability of winning. In this version every player...

On the hat problem, its variations, and their applications
PublikacjaThe topic of our paper is the hat problem in which each of n players is randomly fitted with a blue or red hat. Then everybody can try to guess simultaneously his own hat color by looking at the hat colors of the other players. The team wins if at least one player guesses his hat color correctly, and no one guesses his hat color wrong; otherwise the team loses. The aim is to maximize the probability of a win. There are known many...

GNSS INVENTORY OF HISTORIC NARROW-GAUGE RAILWAY LINE IN KOSZALIN UNDER EXTREMELY UNFAVORABLE MEASUREMENTS CONDITIONS FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF SATELLITE SIGNALS AVAILABILITY
PublikacjaA team of academic researchers from the Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdynia Maritime University and the Polish Naval Academy have been working since 2009 on the methodology of using active GNSS geodetic networks for geodetic inventory of railways and on adapting this measurement technique for designing geometric layouts of railway and tram lines. Over the years, the team tested a variety of configurations of receivers and settings...

The hydrodynamic pressure field of the ship Zodiak, measurements and calculations
PublikacjaThe article presents the results of measurements of the slowly changing hydrodynamic pressure field HPF generated by the movement of the ship, Zodiak, in the Bay of Gdansk. The measurement results have been obtained in the framework of the program of the work in Siramis, under the auspices of the European Defence Administration of the EU, by the research team of the Naval Academy in Gdynia. The measurement results were compared with...

The hat problem on cycles on at least nine vertices
PublikacjaThe topic is the hat problem in which each of n players is randomly fitted with a blue or red hat. Then everybody can try to guess simultaneously his own hat color by looking at the hat colors of the other players. The team wins if at least one player guesses his hat color correctly, and no one guesses his hat color wrong; otherwise the team loses. The aim is to maximize the probability of winning. A more colorful hat problem
We consider a generalized hat...

W artykule przedstawiono...
