Water-Lubricated Journal Bearings Marine Applications, Design, and Operational Problems and Solutions
PublikacjaWater-Lubricated Journal Bearings: Marine Applications, Design, and Operational Problems and Solutions provides cutting-edge design solutions, common problems and methods for avoiding them, and material selection considerations for the use of water-lubricated journal bearings in marine environments. These bearings have many advantages, including the absence of the potential for oil contamination. They are also sensitive, and their...

Fractional Problems with Right-Handed Riemann-Liouville Fractional Derivatives
PublikacjaIn this paper, we investigate the existence of solutions for advanced fractional differential equations containing the right-handed Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative both with nonlinear boundary conditions and also with initial conditions given at the end point T of interval [0,T ]. We use both the method of successive approximations, the Banach fixed point theorem and the monotone iterative technique, as well. Linear problems...

A solution of non-linear differential problem with application to selected geotechnical problems
PublikacjaA certain non-linear differential equation containing a power of unknown function being the solution is considered with application to selected geotechnical problems. The equation can be derived to a linear differential equation by a proper substitution and properties of the operations G and S.

Proposal of a method for effective tasks distribution in the execution of compolex problems
PublikacjaAn access to a great number of various services allows for decomposition of complex problems into smaller and less complex tasks. Those tasks can be presented in a form of a dependency graph. This paper shows an idea of executing such a problem using cooperating autonomous agents. Main focus of this work is cooperation covering effective tasks distribution among executors. This paper presents an algorithm for dynamic executor selection...

Selected problems of experimental investigation of dynamically loaded journal bearings
PublikacjaIn the paper some problems concerning relations between external bearing loadings and critical lining stresses are described for test stand with rotating load vector. According to the standard ISO 7905/1 this type of test stand, for dynamically loaded slide bearing, is recommended as a basic research unit for material testing in a complete bearing unit. The lining stress calculation results occurred being dependent on applied calculation...

3D Monitoring - Identification of measurement problems at larger movements of the tracked points
PublikacjaAuthors identified the problems associated with the determination of the controlled points coordinates by use of automated Total Station placed behind transparent barrier. Important thing in the mentioned analysis was a large change of controlled points position and not stable Total Station’s stand (because of stand’s thermal drift). This two elements, combined with measurement made through glass plate determine the need for impact...

Application of the fluid–structure interaction technique for the analysis of hydrodynamic lubrication problems.
PublikacjaFluid–structure interaction technique seems to be one of the most promising possibilities for theoretical analysis of lubrication problems. It allows coupling of different physical fields in one computational task, taking into account the interaction between them. In this article, two sets of fluid–structure interaction analyses focusing on the bearing performance evaluation are presented. One analysis was applied to a water-lubricated...

Problems of analytical determination of journal bearing bush fatigue strength estimates
PublikacjaProblems connected with determination of stress distribution in sliding layer of thinwalled bearing bushes, investigated in bearing fatigue test rigs, have been presented. Using an example of plain bearings tested in the fatigue machine SMOK (built at the Gdask University of Technology) problems with obtaining a convergence of iterative procedure for determining the fatigue strength estimators of bearing alloy surface layer are...

A Model-Order Reduction Approach for Electromagnetic Problems With Nonaffine Frequency Dependence
PublikacjaThe aim of this paper is to present a novel model-order reduction (MOR) technique for the efcient frequency-domain nite-element method (FEM) simulation of microwave components. It is based on the standard reduced-basis method, but the subsequent expansion frequency points are selected following the so-called sparsied greedy strategy. This feature makes it especially useful to perform a fast-frequency sweep of problems that lead...

On Solvability of Boundary Value Problems for Elastic Micropolar Shells with Rigid Inclusions
PublikacjaIn the framework of the linear theory of micropolar shells, existence and uniqueness theorems for weak solutions of boundary value problems describing small deformations of elastic micropolar shells connected to a system of absolutely rigid bodies are proved. The definition of a weak solution is based on the principle of virial movements. A feature of this problem is non-standard boundary conditions at the interface between the...

Efficient Complex Root Finding Algorithm for Microwave and Optical Propagation Problems
PublikacjaArticle relates to the use of innovative root finding algorithm (on a complex plane) to study propagation properties of microwave and optical waveguides. Problems of this type occur not only in the analysis of lossy structures, but also in the study of complex and leaky modes (radiation phenomena). The proposed algorithm is simple to implement and can be applied for functions with singularities and branch cuts in the complex plane...

THE INFLUENCE OF THE URBAN DESIGN ON THE AIR EXCHANGE IN CITIES. SELECTED PROBLEMS IN POLISH REALITY
PublikacjaThe progress of the architecture and urbanism raises problems requiring interdisciplinary research conducted with the use of advanced experimental techniques and computer simulation. The fields of this research include aerodynamics, especially in intensively developed area of Environmental Wind Engineering (EWE). Aerodynamic phenomena occurring around buildings have a significant impact on the quality of the climate in the cities....

Noise measurements on low noise pavements - problems with inhomogeneity of wearing course
PublikacjaDuring the last several years, when performing numerous CPX noise measurements on low noise pavements, significant inhomogeneity of the wearing course was observed in numerous cases. Similar problems were almost not existing regarding to the dense pavements. In general three main reasons of inhomogeneity can be defined. The first one are imperfections in technology of production of a asphalt mix or/and errors made already during...

Towards the boundary between easy and hard control problems in multicast Clos networks
PublikacjaIn this article we study 3-stage Clos networks with multicast calls in general and 2-cast calls, in particular. We investigate various sizes of input and output switches and discuss some routing problems involved in blocking states. To express our results in a formal way we introduce a model of hypergraph edge-coloring. A new class of bipartite hypergraphs corresponding to Clos networks is studied. We identify some polynomially...

Railway noise problems in Poland
