PublicationCollective intelligence is most often understood as a kind of intelligence which arises on the basis of a group (collective) of autonomous unites (people, systems) which is taskoriented. There are two important aspects of an intelligent collective: The cooperation aspect and the competition aspect (Levy 1997). The first of them means the possibility for integrating the decisions made by the collective members for creating the decision of...

Molecular hydrogen solvated in water – A computational study
PublicationThe aqueous hydrogen molecule is studied with molecular dynamics simulations at ambient temperature and pressure conditions, using a newly developed flexible and polarizable H2 molecule model. The design and implementation of this model, compatible with an existing flexible and polarizable force field for water, is presented in detail. The structure of the hydration layer suggests that first-shell water molecules accommodate the...

Comparative 3D DEM simulations of sand–structure interfaces with similarly shaped clumps versus spheres with contact moments.
PublicationThree-dimensional simulations of a monotonic quasi-static interface behaviour between initially dense cohesionless sand and a rigid wall of different roughness during tests in a parallelly guided direct shear test under constant normal stress are presented. Numerical modelling was carried out by the discrete element method (DEM) using clumps in the form of convex non-symmetric irregularly shaped grains. The clumps had an aspect...

Electrical mapping of AISI 304 stainless steel subjected to intergranular corrosion performed by means of AFM-LIS in the contact mode
PublicationThe paper presents results of the AFM-based approach to local impedance spectroscopy (LIS) measurements performed in a 20 20 lm grid within an austenite grain–grain boundary region for sensitized AISI 304 stainless steel (SS). Maps of electrical parameters obtained on the basis of localized impedance spectra were demonstrated, presenting their changes and correlation with the sample topography. Performed research revealed significant...
