Selected properties and parameters of radio channel impulse response estimation in ISM 2.4 GHz band
PublikacjaThe article presents experimental research indicating that the impulse response of the communication channel, determined in practice, are not of an universal character, but only represent its approximate value for the frequency on which this measurement was made. Phases for each of the replicas of the measurement signal were determined during the analysis of the received signals in the baseband. Phase changes of individual replicas...

Minimum drag shape bodies moving in inviscid fluid - revisited
PublikacjaThis paper presents the classic approach to minimum drag shape body problem, moving at hypersonic speeds, leading to famous power law shapes with value of the exponent of 3/4. Two- and three-dimensional cases are considered. Furthermore, an exact pseudo solution is given and its uselessness is discussed. Two new solutions are introduced, namely an approximate solution due to form of the functional and solution by means of optimisation...

Vibration of the bridge under moving singular loads - theoretical formulation and numerical solution
PublikacjaThe paper presents the results of the numerical analysis of a simple vehicle passing over a simply supported bridge span. The bridge is modelled by a Euler-Bernoulli beam. The vehicle is modelled as a linear, visco-elastic oscillator, moving at a constant speed. The system is described by a set of differential equations of motion and solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta algorithm. The results are compared with the solution...

Disturbances of magnetic field in surrounding of mobile, metalic plate
PublikacjaThe uniform magnetic field of the Earth in the surrounding of a mobile, metalic object undergoes deformation by eddy currents. The influence of the moving conducting object on total magnetic field of the Earth depends on the object's shape, position and speed of the changes relative to the magnetic field's vector of the Earth as well as the electric conductivity and the relative magnetic permeability of the material. The disturbances...

Multi-Stage Video Analysis Framework
PublikacjaThe chapter is organized as follows. Section 2 presents the general structure of the proposed framework and a method of data exchange between system elements. Section 3 is describing the low-level analysis modules for detection and tracking of moving objects. In Section 4 we present the object classification module. Sections 5 and 6 describe specialized modules for detection and recognition of faces and license plates, respectively....

Evolution of Animats Following a Moving Target in an Artificial Ecosystem
PublikacjaMany biological animals, even microscopically small, are able to track moving sources of food. In this paper, we investigate the emergence of such behavior in artificial animals (animats) in a 2-dimensional simulated liquid environment. These "predators" are controlled by evolving artificial gene regulatory networks encoded in linear genomes. The fate of the predators is determined only by their ability to gather food and reproduce—no...

Application of the Boundary Element Method for the Simulation of Two-dimensional Viscous Incompressible Flow
PublikacjaThe paper presents the application of an indirect variant of the boundary element method (BEM) to solve the two-dimensional steady flow of a Stokes liquid. In the BEM, a system of differential equations is transformed into integral equations. Thi smakes it possible to limit discretization to the border of the solution. Numerical discretization of the computational domain was performed with linear boundary elements, for which a...

Diver Observations by Means of Acoustic Methods
PublikacjaSearching for objects, especially small ones, moving under water near its the free surface, is always not an easy task. Designing tools for the detection of such targets is a real challenge when the possibility of a terrorist attack is a real threat. This paper presents some aspects of diver detection by means of acoustics methods, both active (side scan sonar) and passive ones (linear receiving antenna). This approach is quite...

Underwater Navigation Ssystem Based on Doppler Shift – Measurements and Error Estimations
PublikacjaA new acoustic navigation system was developed to determine the position and speed of moving underwater objects such as divers and underwater vehicles. The path of an object and its speed were determined by the Doppler shifts of acoustic signals emitted by a transmitter placed on the object and received by four hydrophones installed at the periphery of the monitored body of water. The position and speed measurements were affected...

A detector of sleep disorders for using at home
PublikacjaObstructive sleep apnea usually requires all-ni ght examination in a specialized clinic, under the supervision of a medical staff. Because of those requirements it is an expensive and a non-widely utilized test. Moving the examination procedure to patients’ home with automatic analysis algorithms involved will decrease the costs and make it available for larger group of patients. The developed device allows all-night recordings...

Resolving Conflicts in Object Tracking in Video Stream Employing Key Point Matching
PublikacjaA novel approach to resolving ambiguous situations in object tracking in video streams is presented. The proposed method combines standard tracking technique employing Kalman filters with global feature matching method. Object detection is performed using a background subtraction algorithm, then Kalman filters are used for object tracking. At the same time, SURF key points are detected only in image sections identified as moving...

The role of ergonomics in architectonic and marketing operations
PublikacjaThe 20th century, along with the development of mass culture, brought a rapid increase of marketing communications significance. At first, this branch of art had an informational function associated with advertising operations. Nowadays, an increase of marketing specialists’ interest in influencing a human being by the space they stay in may be observed. Ergonomics plays an important role in such operations. The aim of this article...

Energy Neutrality Versus Carbon Footprint Minimization In Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants
PublikacjaThe study presents analysis of the carbon footprint (CF) in six medium and large-size municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) located across Poland. The novelty of the presented study is searching the relationship between level of energy neutrality and CF in the case studies. Although energy and CF go hand-in-hand to some degree but moving towards energy neutrality in WWTPs might also lead to an increase in the total CF of...

A numerical model to simulate the motion of a lifesaving module during its launching from the ship’s stern ramp
PublikacjaThe article presents a numerical model of object motion in six degrees of freedom (DoF) which is intended to be used to simulate 3D motion of a lifesaving module during its launching from a ship using a stern ramp in rough sea. The model, of relatively high complexity, takes into account both the motion of the ship on water in changing sea conditions, and the relative motion of the ramp with respect to the ship. The motion of the...
