A bound on the number of middle-stage crossbars in f-cast rearrangeable Clos networks
PublicationIn 2006 Chen and Hwang gave a necessary and sufficient condition under which a three-stage Clos network is rearrangeable for broadcast connections. Assuming that only crossbars of the first stage have no fan-out property, we give similar conditions for f-cast Clos networks, where f is an arbitrary but fixed invariant of the network. Such assumptions are valid for some practical switching systems, e.g. high-speed crossconnects....

A Centralized Reputation System for MANETs Based on Observed Path Performance
PublicationA reputation system for MANETs is described that attempts to deduce nodal trustworthiness (forwarding behaviour) from observed end-to-end path performance. The trustworthiness deduction algorithm produces interval estimates and works well if node misbehaviour is not selec-tive with respect to traversing paths. Nodal reputation levels are next calculated in the spirit of generous tit-for-tat so as to best reflect momentary nodal...

A Compact Basis for Reliable Fast Frequency Sweep via the Reduced-Basis Method
PublicationA reliable reduced-order model (ROM) for fast frequency sweep in time-harmonic Maxwell’s equations by means of the reduced-basis method is detailed. Approximating this low-dimensional manifold by a low dimension subspace, namely, reduced-basis space, gives...

A city is not a tree: a multi-city study on street network and urban life
PublicationChristopher Alexander, a British-American scholar, differentiated an old (natural) city from a new (planned) one by structure. The former resembles a “semilattice”, or a complex system encompassing many interconnected sub-systems. The latter is shaped in a graph-theoretical “tree”, which lacks the structural complexity as its sub-systems are compartmentalized into a single hierarchy. This structural distinction explains why, or...

A 27/26-approximation algorithm for the chromatic sum coloring of bipartitegraphs
PublicationWe consider the CHROMATIC SUM PROBLEM on bipartite graphs which appears to be much harder than the classical CHROMATIC NUMBER PROBLEM. We prove that the CHROMATIC SUM PROBLEM is NP-complete on planar bipartite graphs with Delta less than or equal to 5, but polynomial on bipartite graphs with Delta less than or equal to 3, for which we construct an O(n(2))-time algorithm. Hence, we tighten the borderline of intractability for this...

A compact smart sensor based on a neural classifier for objects modeled by Beaunier's model
PublicationA new solution of a smart microcontroller sensor based on a simple direct sensor-microcontroller interface for technical objects modeled by two-terminal networks and by the Beaunier’s model of anticorrosion coating is proposed. The tested object is stimulated by a square pulse and its time voltage response is sampled four times by the internal ADC of microcontroller. A neural classifier based on measurement data classifies the...

A boost topology active power factor corrector.
PublicationPrzedstawiono układ analogowego aktywnego korektora zbudowanego na układzie scalonym kontrolera PWM oraz tranzystorem MOS jako okresowo przełączonym kluczem. Układ korektora zapewnia pobór prądu z sieci energetycznej w postaci przebiegu prawie sinusoidalnego o małych zniekształceniach i w fazie z sinusoidalnym napięciem sieci.

A Chemical Recognition Element for Lithium Ions Based on Optical Electronic Absorption.
PublicationOtrzymano próbki kserożeli techniką zol-żel. Otrzymane materiały zastosowano do konstrukcji czujników optycznych. Rolę elementu rozpoznającego w uzyskanych próbkach pełnią chromogeniczne etery koronowe zawierające w makro pierścieniu dwie grupy azowe oraz resztę fenolu. W obecności soli metali I grupy układ u okresowego obserwowano zmiany w widmach absorpcyjnych. Dla matrycy zawierającej jako materiał czujnikowy 21-członową...

A compact seven-section rat-race hybrid coupler incorporating pbg cells
PublicationA conventional rat-race coupler has been doubly miniaturized: (i) characteristic impedances and electrical lengths of microstrip sections have been adequately modified as the first step of size reduction and (ii) T-shaped PBG cells have been implemented to diminish strip section length as the second step of circuit rat-race couplerminiaturization. The experimental results show good agreement with theoretical characteristics. Furthermore,...

A closed loop thermosyphon with conventional or minichannel based condenser and evaporator

A Clustering-Based Methodology for Selection of Fault Tolerance Techniques
PublicationDevelopment of dependable applications requires selection of appropriate fault tolerance techniques that balance efficiency in fault handling and resulting consequences, such as increased development cost or performance degradation. This paper describes an advisory system that recommends fault tolerance techniques considering specified development and runtime application attributes. In the selection process, we use the K-means...

A comparative study of different methods for heat transfer enhanced by the use of TVG
PublicationArtykuł dotyczy badań eksperymentalnych i numerycznych intensyfikacji wymiany ciepła w modelowym wymienniku ciepła z turbulizatorami przepływu dla różnej geometrii turbulizatorów. Do badań eksperymentalnych wykorzystano termografię ciekłokrystaliczną a modelowanie fizyczne wykonano za pomocą kodu komputerowego FLUENT.

A common method for calculation of flow boiling and flow condensation heat transfer coefficients in minichannels with account of nonadiabatic effects
PublicationW pracy przedstawiono metodę ogólną wyznaczania współczynników przejmowania ciepła podczas wrzenia w przepływie i kondensacji w przepływie w minikanałach z uwzględnieniem efektu nieadiabatycznego. Uwzględnia ona wpływ modyfikacji naprężeń stycznych na granicy ciecz-para na wymianę ciepła.

A compact smart resistive sensor based on a microcontroller

A comparative evaluation of PCR ribotyping and ERIC PCR for determining the diversity of clinical Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates
PublicationW pracy porównano dwie metody stosowane do badania różnorodności genetycznej drobnoustrojów. Modelem do badań była grupa 62 klinicznych izolatów bakterii P. aeruginosa. Zdecydowanie wyższy potencjał różnicujący stwierdzono w przypadku metody ERIC PCR, której zastosowanie pozwoliło na wyodrębnienie 36 różnych genotypów. W przypadku rybotypowania wyróżniono tylko 9 genotypów.
