Functional phase bistability in a nanocrystalline RbMn[Fe(CN)6] thin film fabricated by matrix-assisted laser evaporation
PublicationOne of the main barriers hindering applications of Prussian blue metal assemblies is their poor processability, which makes the fabrication of intact thin films very difficult. In this work, a nanocrystalline RbMn[Fe(CN)6]·xH2O film on silicon substrate was obtained for the first time via laser-stimulated deposition and investigated. Temperature-induced phase transition and bistability within broad hysteresis loop (120 K), along...

Completeness and Consistency of the System Requirement Specification
PublicationAlthough the System Requirement Specification, as a first formal and detailed document, is the base for the software project in classic software methodologies, there is a noticeable problem of assuring the completeness of this document. The lack of its completeness causes uncertainty of the project foundations. This was one of motivations for agile methodologies – if the SRS cannot be easily validated, if it can change in late project...

PublicationPurpose: To demonstrate that contemporary universities may be improved by synthesis of strategic antinomies, i.e. seeking the possibility of combining opposite approaches to solving problems concerning university organization and management. Findings: That approach discounts the importance of building positive relationships between members of staff and undertaking activities intended to create a situation where the...

Cognitive neuroscience: Theta network oscillations coordinate development of episodic memory
PublicationOur ability to remember life events matures through childhood and adolescence. A new study has revealed how theta oscillations between two anatomical brain regions supporting memory and executive functions are synchronized and develop across age through functional and structural connectivity.

Arbutin: Isolation, X-ray structure and computional studies
PublicationArbutin, an active component originated from Serratula quinquefolia for skin-whitening use and treating skin related allergic inflammation, was characterized by microanalysis, FTIR, UV-Vis, multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction method. The geometries of the studied compound were optimized in singlet states using the density functional theory (DFT) method with B3LYP functional. Electronic spectra were...

Extendable Safety and Security Ontology
PublicationSecurity plays an increasingly important role in our everyday life, and research and users of computer systems point out that the need arises for a common, formalised model capable of integrating different solutions. In this paper we show that an ontology can be designed and created in a way that will make it suitable for interoperability and integration. A security and safety ontology and the methodology for creating a common...

Safety-based approach in multifunctional building design
PublicationABSTRACT: The modern trend in design of the public buildings is to create multifunctional environments in one building, hosting a variety of functions. Multifunctional buildings entertain large number of visitors. The complexity and vulnerability of this type of public space are the main reasons to use within their design process the performance based approach including the recognition of hazards. Safety and reliability approach...

Collective creativity in management science
PublicationPurpose: The purpose of this paper is to establish the current state of knowledge on collective creativity in management science on the basis of a systematic literature review. Methodology: A systematic review was performed based on the three-step SPL procedure proposed by Tranfield et al. (2003). Two databases (Scopus and Web of Science) were searched electronically up until March 2022. Based on the secondary data a literature...

Analysis of hydrodynamic pressure fields of motorboats and pontoons in shallow water
PublicationThe article presents the results of calculations of the pressure fields generated by a motorboat at the bottom of a shallow sea. Calculations were made using the boundary elements method (BEM), arranged on the surface of the boat and the bottom of the sea. This method is described in [3], and applied on a free surface linearized boundary condition. Results for four different lengths of motorboats, from 2.85 m to 9.5 m, sea depth...

Designing efficient A-D-A1-D-A type fullerene free acceptor molecules with enhanced power conversion efficiency for solar cell applications
PublicationThe achievement of highly efficient power conversion efficiency (PCE) is a big concern for non-fullerene organic solar cells (NF-OSCs) because PCE can depend on numerous variables. Here, new five novel acceptor molecules without fullerenes were developed and investigated using DFT (density functional theory) and TD-DFT (time dependent-density functional theory). Compared to the recently synthesized molecule (PZ-dIDTC6), the developed...

CLICK 'n' Sleep: Light-Switch Behavior of Triazole-Containing Tris(bipyridyl)ruthenium Complexes
PublicationA set of RuII complexes incorporating triazole subunits are presented. They show a solvent-dependent light-switch effect. Theoretical calculations revealed the excited states involved in the emission process. The findings are highly important for future design of light-switch sensors and suggest a severe restriction for functional photomolecular devices synthesized by CLICK chemistry.

The impact of filler thermomechanical modifications on static and dynamic mechanical performance of flexible foamed polyurethane/ground tire rubber/zinc borate composites
PublicationThe rapid development of the automotive industry is very beneficial to many aspects of human life, but it is also a very significant environmental burden. The most straightforward impact is related to the generation of exhaust, but the management of post-consumer car parts is also a major challenge. Among them, waste tires are very burdensome due to their enormous numbers. Therefore, it is essential to develop novel, environmentally...

EVALUATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NON-PHYSICAL SPEED MANAGEMENT MEASURES
PublicationThe subject of the Authors' analyses is a group of non-physical speed management measures. How effective they are depends primarily on how willing drivers are to accept restrictions. Social and cultural factors play a major role. The effectiveness of these measures is not clear and requires further research. The authors conducted such research and evaluated the effects of nonphysical speed management measures on driver behaviour...

Art and Healthcare - Healing Potential of Artistic Interventions in Medical Settings
PublicationThe stereotype of a machine for healing seems to be well rooted in common thinking and social perception of hospital buildings. The technological aspect of healthcare architecture has been influenced for several years by three major factors. The first is linked to the necessity of providing safety and security in the environment of elevated epidemiological risk. The second concerns the need for incorporating advanced technology...

Anisotropic Orlicz–Sobolev spaces of vector valued functions and Lagrange equations
PublicationIn this paper we study some properties of anisotropic Orlicz and Orlicz–Sobolev spaces of vector valued functions for a special class of G-functions. We introduce a variational setting for a class of Lagrangian Systems. We give conditions which ensure that the principal part of variational functional is finitely defined and continuously differentiable on Orlicz–Sobolev space.
