Rigorous numerics for critical orbits in the quadratic family
PublikacjaWe develop algorithms and techniques to compute rigorous bounds for finite pieces of orbits of the critical points, for intervals of parameter values, in the quadratic family of one-dimensional maps fa(x)=a−x2. We illustrate the effectiveness of our approach by constructing a dynamically defined partition P of the parameter interval Ω=[1.4,2] into almost 4 million subintervals, for each of which we compute to high precision the...

The E-Cohomological Conley Index, Cup-Lengths and the Arnold Conjecture on T 2n
PublikacjaWe show that the E-cohomological Conley index, that was introduced by the first author recently, has a natural module structure. This yields a new cup-length and a lower bound for the number of critical points of functionals on Hilbert spaces. When applied to the setting of the Arnold conjecture, this paves the way to a short proof on tori, where it was first shown by C. Conley and E. Zehnder in 1983.

The cohomological span of LS-Conley index
PublikacjaIn this paper we introduce a new homotopy invariant – the cohomological span of LS-Conley index. We give examples of Hamiltonian systems for which our methods give better results than the Morse inequalities. We also give a formula...

The Opening of Central and Eastern European Countries to Free Trade: A Critical Assessment

Some accelerationist remarks on Marcuse’s drives theory and his dialectics of civilization
PublikacjaMarcuse’s theory of civilization offers a promising Freud-Marx synthesis. His approach, best articulated in Eros and Civilization, aims at a thorough reformulation of the Freudian drive doctrine to render it more historical and concatenate it to the problem of structural violence and the institutionalized (and internalized) mechanism of repression. I claim that the said reformulation provides a cornerstone for Marcuse’s highly...

The approach is based on a feature-based optimization (FBO) concept where reflection characteristics of the structure at hand are formulated in terms of suitably defined feature points. Redefinition of the design problem allows for reducing the design optimization cost, because the dependence of feature point coordinates on antenna dimensions...

Application of Doubly Connected Dominating Sets to Safe Rectangular Smart Grids
PublikacjaSmart grids, together with the Internet of Things, are considered to be the future of the electric energy world. This is possible through a two-way communication between nodes of the grids and computer processing. It is necessary that the communication is easy and safe, and the distance between a point of demand and supply is short, to reduce the electricity loss. All these requirements should be met at the lowest possible cost....

Resolving Conflicts in Object Tracking in Video Stream Employing Key Point Matching
PublikacjaA novel approach to resolving ambiguous situations in object tracking in video streams is presented. The proposed method combines standard tracking technique employing Kalman filters with global feature matching method. Object detection is performed using a background subtraction algorithm, then Kalman filters are used for object tracking. At the same time, SURF key points are detected only in image sections identified as moving...

Outlier detection method by using deep neural networks
PublikacjaDetecting outliers in the data set is quite important for building effective predictive models. Consistent prediction can not be made through models created with data sets containing outliers, or robust models can not be created. In such cases, it may be possible to exclude observations that are determined to be outlier from the data set, or to assign less weight to these points of observation than to other points of observation....

Weak forms of shadowing in topological dynamics
PublikacjaWe consider continuous maps of compact metric spaces. It is proved that every pseudotrajectory with sufficiently small errors contains a subsequence of positive density that is point-wise close to a subsequence of an exact trajectory with the same indices. Also, we study homeomor- phisms such that any pseudotrajectory can be shadowed by a finite number of exact orbits. In terms of numerical methods this property (we call it multishadowing)...

PublikacjaThe paper presents an analytical method of identifying the curvature of the turnout diverging track consisting of sections of varying curvature. Both linear and nonlinear (polynomial) curvatures of the turnout diverging track are identified and evaluated in the paper. The presented method is a universal one, it enables to assume curvature values at the beginning and end point of the geometrical layout of the turnout. The results...

Rotating rod and ball
PublikacjaWe consider a mechanical system consisting of an infinite rod (a straight line) and a ball (a massless point) on the plane. The rod rotates uniformly around one of its points. The ball is reflected elastically when colliding with the rod and moves freely between consecutive hits. A sliding motion along the rod is also allowed. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the motion with a given position and velocity at a certain time...

PublikacjaIn this study distribution of antimicrobial resistance patterns among fecal indicator bacteria (Escherichia coli and Enterococcus spp.) was examined in two watercourses. The susceptibility analyses were carried out against the antimicrobial agents, important in treating human E. coli and enterococcal infection. Water samples were obtained from the Oliwski Stream and from the Reda River. On each watercourse the five representative...

Rapid Yield Estimation and Optimization of Microwave Structures Exploiting Feature-Based Statistical Analysis
PublikacjaIn this paper, we propose a simple, yet reliable methodology to expediteyield estimation and optimization of microwave structures. In our approach, the analysis of the entire response of the structure at hand (e.g., $S$-parameters asa function of frequency) is replaced by response surface modeling of suitablyselected feature points. On the one hand, this is sufficient to determinewhether a design satisfies given performance specifications....

Application of Regression Line to Obtain Specified Number of Points in Reduced Large Datasets

Fast Multi-Objective Aerodynamic Optimization Using Sequential Domain Patching and Multifidelity Models
PublikacjaExploration of design tradeoffs for aerodynamic surfaces requires solving of multi-objective optimization (MOO) problems. The major bottleneck here is the time-consuming evaluations of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model used to capture the nonlinear physics involved in designing aerodynamic surfaces. This, in conjunction with a large number of simulations necessary to yield a set of designs representing the best possible...

Seven Different Lighting Conditions in Photogrammetric Studies of a 3D Urban Mock-Up

Nevertheless, the concept of “adequate lighting” is relative. Therefore, we have attempted, based on experimental proof of concept (technology readiness level—TRL3), to verify the impact of various types of lighting emitted by LED light sources for scene illumination and their direct influence...

The load and velocity regime chosen were similar to a standard four-ball lubricity test with constant velocity and load increasing over time. The regime was modified in such a way that over the initial part of the...

Impact of optimization of ALS point cloud on classification
PublikacjaAirborne laser scanning (ALS) is one of the LIDAR technologies (Light Detection and Ranging). It provides information about the terrain in form of a point cloud. During measurement is acquired: spatial data (object’s coordinates X, Y, Z) and collateral data such as intensity of reflected signal. The obtained point cloud is typically applied for generating a digital terrain model (DTM) and a digital surface model (DSM). For DTM...

FEM involves solving a large sparse system of equations at many frequency points and therefore its computational cost is...
