The equivariant spectral flow and bifurcation of periodic solutions of Hamiltonian systems
PublikacjaWe define a spectral flow for paths of selfadjoint Fredholm operators that are equivariant under the orthogonal action of a compact Lie group as an element of the representation ring of the latter. This G-equivariant spectral flow shares all common properties of the integer valued classical spectral flow, and it can be non-trivial even if the classical spectral flow vanishes. Our main theorem uses the G-equivariant spectral flow...

The influence of α,ω-diols and SiO2 particles on CO2 absorption and NH3 escaping during carbon dioxide capture in ammonia solutions
PublikacjaAmmonia solutions are widely used solvents for CO2 capture. However, a significant disadvantage of these solvents is secondary pollution of the purified gas stream by desorbed ammonia. In this work, α,ω-diols, and colloidal silica have been proposed to reduce this undesired effect. Ammonia solutions with the addition of ethylene glycol (EG), 1,3-propanediol (PRD), 1,4-butanediol (BUD), 1,5-pentanediol (PED), or 1,6-hexanediol (HED)...

Hydration of Simple Model Peptides in Aqueous Osmolyte Solutions
PublikacjaThe biology and chemistry of proteins and peptides are inextricably linked with water as the solvent. The reason for the high stability of some proteins or uncontrolled aggregation of others may be hidden in the properties of their hydration water. In this study, we investigated the effect of stabilizing osmolyte–TMAO (trimethylamine N-oxide) and destabilizing osmolyte–urea on hydration shells of two short peptides, NAGMA (N-acetyl-glycine-methylamide)...

Numerical solutions for large deformation problems in geotechnical engineering
PublikacjaThe problem of large deformations often occurs in geotechnical engineering. Numerical modeling of such issues is usually complex and tricky. The chosen solution has to implicate soil-soil and soil-structure interactions. In this paper, a review of the most popular numerical methods for large deformation problems is presented. The Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method, the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method, the Smoothed...

Almost homoclinic solutions for the second order Hamiltonian systems
PublikacjaW niniejszej pracy badam istnienie rozwiązań prawie homoklinicznych (almost homoclinic) dla układu Hamiltona rzędu drugiego (układu Newtona): ü(t) + V_{u}(t,u) = f(t), gdzie t є R, u є R^{n}, V(t,u) = -K(t,u) + W(t,u), K,W: R x R^{n} → R są klasy C^{1}, K spełnia warunek ''pinching'', W_{u}(t,u)=o(|u|), gdy |u| → 0 jednostajnie względem t, f: R → R^{n} jest funkcją ciągłą, niezerową i odpowiednio małą w L^{2}(R,R^{n}). Przy tych...

Thermodynamics of micellization of imidazolium ionic liquids in aqueous solutions

Hydration of Carboxylate Anions: Infrared Spectroscopy of Aqueous Solutions
Pasma te przypisano grupie -COO- anionu R-COO- (R = H, CH3, C2H5),...

The work focuses on the consistency of numerical solution of these equations with the conservation laws of mass and momentum. The investigations involve two different conservative forms which are solved by an implicit box scheme. The theoretical analysis supported by numerical experiments is carried out for rectangular channel...
