Existence and uniqueness of solutions for single-population McKendrick-von Foerster models with renewal
PublikacjaWe study a McKendrick-von Foerster type equation with renewal. This model is represented by a single equation which describes one species which produces young individuals. The renewal condition is linear but takes into account some history of the population. This model addresses nonlocal interactions between individuals structured by age. The vast majority of size-structured models are also treatable. Our model generalizes a number...

We use the attribute “gradient-incomplete” strain-gradient elasticity for a model in which the considered strain energy...

Functional delay fractional equations
PublikacjaIn this paper, we discuss functional delay fractional equations. A Banach fixed point theorem is applied to obtain the existence (uniqueness) theorem. An example illustrates the main result.

We prove a general result on equivalence of equicontinuity concepts. PublikacjaThe kinetics of the chitosan crosslinking reaction with genipin was examined. The strong relationship was found between crosslinking agent concentration, chitosan concentration, temperature and gelling time. Data obtained will be used in the proper selection of optimal genipin concentration for crosslinking chitosan solutions.

Protein thermal stabilization in aqueous solutions of osmolytes
PublikacjaProteins’ thermal stabilization is a significant problem in various biomedical, biotechnological, and technological applications. We investigated thermal stability of hen egg white lysozyme in aqueous solutions of the following stabilizing osmolytes: Glycine (GLY), N-methylglycine (NMG), N,N-dimethylglycine (DMG), N,N,N-trimethylglycine (TMG), and trimethyl-N-oxide (TMAO). Results of CD-UV spectroscopic investigation were compared...

A model of stealth maritime object having some innovative solutions concerning the object form, structure and materials.
Dane BadawczeThe aim of the project is to work out a model of the stealth maritime object which will have innovative solutions concerning the object form, structure and materials. These solutions should enable a modification of combinations of the object features defining the object stealth characteristics (difficulty of the object detection in the water). It is...

Comparison of selected off-the-shelf solutions for emotion recognition based on facial expressions
PublikacjaThe paper concerns accuracy of emotion recognition from facial expressions. As there are a couple of ready off-the-shelf solutions available in the market today, this study aims at practical evaluation of selected solutions in order to provide some insight into what potential buyers might expect. Two solutions were compared: FaceReader by Noldus and Xpress Engine by QuantumLab. The performed evaluation revealed that the recognition...

The existence and multiplicity of heteroclinic and homoclinic orbits for a class of singular Hamiltonian systems in R^2

Certain family of analytical solutions of nonlinear von Neumann equations
PublikacjaIn this paper we present a slight generalization of certain type of Darboux transformation, that may be used sub-sequently in a convenient way. This method allows to obtain families of solutions of nonlinear von Neumann equations, that are used in particular in DNA modeling.

Environmental impact of construction. Methods of conscious shaping architecture in terms of ecological solutions
PublikacjaShaping an ecologically conscious society is a process that also affects architecture. Currently, designers are eagerly looking for solutions that are beneficial in terms of carbon footprint. For the proper multi-criteria assessment and selection of adequate solutions, it is necessary to use appropriate tools such as, for example, the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method or the rules of ecological certification (BREEAM and LEED)....

Problems in designing and operating the functional safety solutions of higher integriity levels
PublikacjaThe aim of this article is to identify and discuss some problems that have been encountered in designing and operating the functional safety solutions of higher safety integrity levels (SIL 3 and SIL 4) in the light of analyses outlined in a new version of the international standard IEC 61508:2010. Examples of such solutions are the electric / electronic / programmable electronic systems (E/E/PESs) and the safety instrumented systems...

Antimicrobial properties of chitosan solutions, chitosan films and gelatin-chitosan films
PublikacjaThe antimicrobial properties of chitosan solutions and films against selected bacteria and the effect of chitosan incorporation into gelatin films were studied. The bactericidal effect of chitosan solutions increased with time and temperature of sample incubation. Two psychrotrophic strains Pseudomonas fluorescens and Listeria innocua were more sensitive to chitosan than mesophilic strains Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus....

Potential for ITS/ICT Solutions in Urban Freight Management
PublikacjaThe article presents a study on applying ITS solutions in planning and management of urban freight transport in Gdynia. The traffic management system Tristar which is under implementation and its related systems show a potential to assist in development of freight transport measures. Recommendations for urban freight policy development supplementing Gdynia's Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan were used as a basis for identification...

Mobility management solutions for current IP and future networks
PublikacjaEnormous progress in the design of portable electronic devices allowed them to reach a utility level comparable to desktop computers, while still retaining their mobility advantage. At the same time new multimedia services and applications are available for IP users. Unfortunately, the performance of base IP protocol is not satisfactory in mobile environments, due to lack of handover support and higher layer mobility management...

Quantum corrections to 4 model solutions and applications to Heisenberg chain dynamics
PublikacjaThe Heisenberg spin chain is considered in φ^4 model approximation. Quantum corrections to classical solutions of the one-dimensional φ^4 model within the correspondent physics are valuated with account of rest d − 1 dimensions of a d-dimensional theory. A quantization of the model is considered in terms of space- time functional integral. The generalized zeta-function formalism is used to renormalize and evaluate the functional...
