The calculations employ pseudo-continuum orbital sets containing up to h (l = 5) functions. Use of these high l functions is found to give converged eigenphase sums. Below the positronium formation threshold, the calculated cross sections agree with other high-accuracy theories and generally with the measurements. Calculation...

Road safety inspection as a tool for road safety management – the polish experience
PublicationIn Poland, road inspections were implemented in June 2014 on all national roads. Previously conducted traffic surveys mainly related to the technical condition of roads, signs and markings; other safety issues were overlooked. The main problem that occurs during inspection is an inspector’s subjective qualitative assessment which affects the classification of the sources of hazard on the road.. The paper presents an analysis of...

Despite its broad application, the mechanisms of radiation-DNA interaction are still under investigation. Theoretical models to predict the effects of a particular delivered dose are still in their infancy due to the difficulty of simulating a real cell environment, as well as the inclusion of a large variety of secondary processes. This...

Injury Prediction Models for Onshore Road Network Development
PublicationIntegrating different modes of transport (road, rail, air and water) is important for port cities. To accommodate this need, new transport hubs must be built such as airports or sea ports. If ports are to grow, they must be accessible, a feature which is best achieved by building new roads, including fast roads. Poland must develop a network of fast roads that will provide good access to ports. What is equally important is to upgrade...

Design of poroelastic wearing course with the use of direct shear test
PublicationPoroelastic Road Surfaces (PERS) are characterized by porous structure with at least 20% of air void content and stiffness almost 10 times lower than typical asphalt course. Such properties enable noise reduction up to 12 dB in comparison to SMA 11 mixture. However, the main disadvantage of previously used poroelastic mixtures, based on resin type binders, was their low durability, which resulted in raveling and delamination from...

Generalized Chebyshev Bandpass Filters With Frequency-Dependent Couplings Based on Stubs
PublicationThis paper presents an accurate synthesis method for inline and cross-coupled generalized Chebyshev bandpass filters with frequency-dependent couplings implemented via open and short stubs. The technique involves the synthesis of a lumped-element prototy pe in the form of a coupling matrix with a frequency-dependent term and the conversion of this prototype to a distributed-element mode l composed of sections of TEM lines. This...

Rotational state-changing collisions of C2H− and C2N− anions with He under interstellar and cold ion trap conditions: A computational comparison
PublicationWe present an extensive range of quantum calculations for the state-changing rotational dynamics involving two simple molecular anions that are expected to play some role in the evolutionary analysis of chemical networks in the interstellar environments, C2H− (X1Σ+) and C2N− (X3Σ−), but for which inelastic rates are only known for C2H−. The same systems are also of direct interest in modeling selective photo-detachment experiments...

The use of GIS tools for road infrastructure safety management
PublicationThere are many factors that influence accidents and their severity. They can be grouped within the system of man, vehicle and environment. The article focuses on how GIS tools can be used to manage road infrastructure safety. To ensure a better understanding and identification of road factors, GIS tools help with the acquisition of road parameter data. Their other role is helping with a clear and effective presentation of risk...
