Underwater Navigation Ssystem Based on Doppler Shift – Measurements and Error Estimations
PublicationA new acoustic navigation system was developed to determine the position and speed of moving underwater objects such as divers and underwater vehicles. The path of an object and its speed were determined by the Doppler shifts of acoustic signals emitted by a transmitter placed on the object and received by four hydrophones installed at the periphery of the monitored body of water. The position and speed measurements were affected...

Novel adaptive flux observer for wide speed range sensorless control of induction motor
PublicationA new adaptive flux observer of induction motor is presented in the paper. The Lyapunov theory is utilized for derivation of the adaptation law of rotor flux angular speed, which acts as unknown parameter in an augmented induction motor model. In the field weakening region, where stray fluxes are comparable with rotor flux magnitude, the air-gap flux stabilization is proposed. An air-gap flux multiscalar model is derived for stator...

Impact of an unsecured excavation on an underground pipeline
PublicationThe paper presents a numerical analysis of the impact of an unsecured excavation on an underground pipeline in selected soil conditions. The research was inspired by a real-life failure of a water pipeline which was caused by a nearby unsecured excavation (Sikora et al. 2015). The failure was triggered by displacement of soil mass in the vicinity of the pipeline. The study conducted in the framework of Finite Element...

On trees with double domination number equal to 2-outer-independent domination number plus one
PublicationA vertex of a graph is said to dominate itself and all of its neighbors. A double dominating set of a graph G is a set D of vertices of G such that every vertex of G is dominated by at least two vertices of D. The double domination number of a graph G is the minimum cardinality of a double dominating set of G. For a graph G=(V,E), a subset D subseteq V(G) is a 2-dominating set if every vertex of V(G)D has at least two neighbors...

On domination multisubdivision number of unicyclic graphs
PublicationThe paper continues the interesting study of the domination subdivision number and the domination multisubdivision number. On the basis of the constructive characterization of the trees with the domination subdivision number equal to 3 given in [H. Aram, S.M. Sheikholeslami, O. Favaron, Domination subdivision number of trees, Discrete Math. 309 (2009), 622–628], we constructively characterize all connected unicyclic graphs with...

TOTAL DOMINATION MULTISUBDIVISION NUMBER OF A GRAPH
PublicationThe domination multisubdivision number of a nonempty graph G was defined in [3] as the minimum positive integer k such that there exists an edge which must be subdivided k times to increase the domination number of G. Similarly we define the total domination multisubdivision number msd_t (G) of a graph G and we show that for any connected graph G of order at least two, msd_t (G) ≤ 3. We show that for trees the total domination...

Properties of surface layers of duplex stainless steel after burnishing processes
PublicationStress corrosion cracking resistance of cold worked layers of 25 Cr duplex stainless steel grade UR52N+ has been investigated. The surface layers were performed through burnishing treatment. The residual stresses at surface layers were determined using grazing angle incidence X-ray diffraction method (g-sin2 Ψ). Corrosion tests were performed with the use of Slow Strain Rate Test technique in boiling 35% MgCl2 solution. It has...

ATTEMPT AT EVALUATING THE INFLUENCE OF BENDING STRESS ON SHAFT WEAR PROCESSES IN WATER LUBRICATED SLIDING BEARING WITH A RUBBER BUSHING
PublicationWater lubricated bearings find increasingly wide application in shipbuilding or hydro–power industry, the popularity stemming from their numerous advantages. Unfortunately, as it turns out, water lubricated bearings do not always meet expectations, as on occasion they become subject to intense, premature wear which requires costly repair. One of the still unexplained phenomena is the process of excessive bearing wear, in particular...

Fast implementation of FDTD-compatible green's function on multicore processor
PublicationIn this letter, numerically efficient implementation of the finite-difference time domain (FDTD)-compatible Green's function on a multicore processor is presented. Recently, closed-form expression of this discrete Green's function (DGF) was derived, which simplifies its application in the FDTD simulations of radiation and scattering problems. Unfortunately, the new DGF expression involves binomial coefficients, whose computations...

Isogeometric Shell FE Analysis of the Human Abdominal Wall
PublicationIn this paper a nonlinear isogeometric Kirchhoff-Love shell model of the human abdominal wall is proposed. Its geometry is based on in vivo measurements obtained from a polygon mesh that is transformed into a NURBS surface, and then used directly for the finite element analysis. The passive response of the abdominal wall model under uniform pressure is considered. A hyperelastic membrane model based on the Gasser-Ogden-Holzapfel...

On the influence of a surface roughness on propagation of anti-plane short-length localized waves in a medium with surface coating
PublicationWe discuss the propagation of localized surface waves in the framework of the linear Gurtin–Murdoch surface elasticity and taking into account a roughness of a free boundary. We derive a boundary-value problem for anti-plane motions with curvilinear boundary and surface stresses. Using the asymptotic technique developed earlier, we obtain the form of a localized wave and analyze its amplitude evolution. As the main result we present...

Some variants of perfect graphs related to the matching number, the vertex cover and the weakly connected domination number
PublicationGiven two types of graph theoretical parameters ρ and σ, we say that a graph G is (σ, ρ)- perfect if σ(H) = ρ(H) for every non-trivial connected induced subgraph H of G. In this work we characterize (γw, τ )-perfect graphs, (γw, α′)-perfect graphs, and (α′, τ )-perfect graphs, where γw(G), τ (G) and α′(G) denote the weakly connected domination number, the vertex cover number and the matching number of G, respectively. Moreover,...

The convex domination subdivision number of a graph
PublicationLet G = (V;E) be a simple graph. A set D\subset V is a dominating set of G if every vertex in V - D has at least one neighbor in D. The distance d_G(u, v) between two vertices u and v is the length of a shortest (u, v)-path in G. An (u, v)-path of length d_G(u; v) is called an (u, v)-geodesic. A set X\subset V is convex in G if vertices from all (a, b)-geodesics belong to X for any two vertices a, b \in X. A set X is a convex dominating...

Analysis of data fusion algorithms for the vessel with the dynamic positioning system
PublicationThe dynamic positioning (DP) system on the vessel is operated to control the position and heading of the vessel with the use of propellers and thrusters installed on the board. On DP vessels redundant measurement systems of position, heading and the magnitude and direction of environmental forces are required for safety at sea. In this case, a fusion of data is needed from individual measurement devices. The article proposes a...

Magnetic field effects in dye-sensitized solar cells controlled by different cell architecture

In this work, we propose a detailed mechanism of photocurrent generation in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) examined by magnetic field effect (MFE) technique. Here we demonstrate that the magnitude of the MFE on photocurrent in DSSCs can be controlled by the radius and...

On root finding algorithms for complex functions with branch cuts
PublicationA simple and versatile method is presented, which enhances the complex root finding process by eliminating branch cuts and branch points in the analyzed domain. For any complex function defined by a finite number of Riemann sheets, a pointwise product of all the surfaces can be obtained. Such single-valued function is free of discontinuity caused by branch cuts and branch points. The roots of the new function are the same as the...
